Childers Area
T
he Childers Area was formed in 2018 with the first meeting being held on the 7th July 2018. There were 10 people attend the meeting on the day, and all but one continue to be members of the Childers Area. We now have 31 members in the Area, with quite a number what we call ‘country members’ who reside to the north and west of us and are not in localities that have a HMCCQ Inc presence.
Although a small area in terms of numbers, the Childers Area makes up for this in enthusiasm. We are particularly fond of catering for events aimed at the older machines of the Veteran and Vintage classes with rallies and tours specifically organized for these motorcycles. We also welcome more modern machines and ha
ve a number of events that cater for all club eligible motorcycles.
Meetings
The Childers Area holds monthly meetings at 10.00am on the first Sunday of the month (except December) at the Isis Club in Churchill Street, Childers.
Activities
D
ue to the geographically diverse nature of the Childers Area membership, we hold a large number of Impromptu Runs at the behest of Area members. These rides are advertised per HMCCQ Inc Policy and all members are welcome to join in the rides.
After each monthly meeting we hold a ride to a venue for lunch. These rides are anything from 20km to 70km from Childers including Biggenden, Woodgate, Burrum Heads, Bundaberg and other locations.
Total Loss Tour - a 3 day event held on the first weekend in May catering for veteran motorcycles annually.
Flat Tank and Girder Fork Rally – Rally for Veteran, Vintage and Pre-war motorcycles held in late July/early August annually
Childers Area Rally – 2 day rally generally held biannually and open to all club eligible motorcycles.
Wagon Wheel Run – 2 day event held in various locations chosen by the Area who has the largest number of club eligible motorcycles attending the year before. Bikes must be ridden to the event and count is taken normally on the Sunday morning. Rockhampton, Gladstone, Fraser Coast, Burnett and Childers Areas generally take part, but all HMCCQ members are welcome.
Friday mornings – From time to time members ride to Burrum Heads to join the Fraser Coast members for coffee at the bakery under the auspices of the Fraser Coast standard calendar event.
Wednesday mornings –Standard calendar ride to Burnett Heads Bakery to meet with other motorcycle clubs and groups.
First Saturday of the month – Standard calendar ride to Bargara for the Inter Club Coffee and Crumbs event
