· History traced via the VMCC UK library. This bike was despatched 10th June 1970, with the engine-built 2nd June 1970 and assembly date 3rd June 1970.
· Imported from USA in March 2021 by Allen Smith (Motorcycle Importer – Brisbane)
· Original speedo supplied showing 19,000miles (supplied loose). Currently fitted with aftermarket speedo with less than 4,000miles I have put on the bike in my 2.5years of ownership after buying in Qld and bringing down to Melbourne)
· Compression is excellent at 160PSI. Engine burns no oil
· Bike well known in Victorian club circles.
· My focus has been on upgrades for mechanical reliability and ease of use. Bike has patina from earlier restorations
· Big money spent to get the bike to a high standard (all receipts available), including:
o Engine is now oil tight
o Fitted with twin Wassel 930 high performance - low maintenance carburettors
o Sports mufflers fitted
o New coils, ignition barrel and Iridium spark plugs
o New Wassel Vape Module Electronic Ignition fitted (original contact points supplied loose)
o Wassel 200W Solid State Rectifier
o Sprocket changed from 46 tooth to 43 tooth / drum for rear wheel to reduce revs on highway for more relaxed riding (and less taxing on the engine). Reduces 5MPH at same revs
o Bike fitted with 71 forks. A common modification as this reduces clunk when fully extended
o Indicators fitted (not standard with 1970 model). Front brake cable changed to include sensor switch to illuminate rear brake light
o Throttle cables changed to nylon for smoother operation
o LED headlight fitted
o New clutch and springs fitted
o New rocker shaft seals, handlebar bushes / rubbers and front fork gaiters fitted
o Battery and all fluids recently changed, new tyres and spoke nipples replaced / tensioned as required, new foot rubbers,
RWC supplied. Currently on non-transferrable Victorian Club Plates
