Gympie

The Gympie branch of the Historical Motorcycle Club of Queensland was formed in 1971, just 12 months after the formation of the organisation.

The branch is based in Gympie on the Mary River with the past history of Gold Mining, proudly boasting as Gympie being the “Town that saved Queensland”.

Our membership is recruited predominately from the city region with a few members from neighbouring shires and also areas such as Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach. Memberships have grown steadily each year with a typical growth of two to three new members annually.

Meetings

Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month (except January) from 7.00pm at the Victory Hotel, Victory Heights.

Activities

Our fundraising recipient is the Little Haven Palliative Care group to whom we donate with funds raised from two main events throughout the year:

  • The Poker Run held on first weekend of June
  • The Gold Miners Rally and on the first weekend of October

Both these events attract good numbers and with many participants from outer regions.

Every second Sunday, first post-meeting, we have our informal rides to somewhere, departing at 9.00 am. from the Gympie Rattler Heritage Rail Station, not restricted to club-eligible bikes.

Our region can boast of great hinterland riding with relatively low-traffic routes and of course with many excellent coffee spots.
